Parenting is Sometimes Harder than Usual.

About 20% percent of children struggle with social, emotional, learning, and behavioral issues. Nearly 96% of adults had a painful childhood. If either is true for you, I can help.

Hi, I’m Laine Lipsky.

Founder of Calm Heart Parenting, BA/MAT Brown University, Parent Educator, Professional Coach, Author, Athlete, Mom

I know about tough parenting assignments personally and professionally. It started 30 years ago when I worked with children who had various social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. I saw it all; I heard it all.

Then I became a mom and had my own “tough assignments.” I experienced firsthand the lack of proper support for parents in our boat. As a former elite athlete and collegiate coach, I knew it would take real effort to parent my kids in the positive, connected way I deeply desired.

Using the best of Professional Coaching, Psychology, and Mindfulness, I developed a new approach that felt amazing. I stayed rooted in Attachment, Empathy, and Habit Building to support my techniques.

After years of testing everything myself, I taught my methods in parenting classes and private sessions with incredible results – especially for those with tough assignments – and I knew I was onto something really important.

For over a decade, I’ve coached overwhelmed and maxed-out parents into a new gear of confidence, competence, and calm. I offer my clients the highest level of support for life-changing results. Let’s see if I can help you, too.

I’ve helped thousands of parents thrive — but don’t take my word for it …

“I wasn’t the mom I wanted to be and the one my kids deserve. I tried to change by myself but I needed more help. Now I’m calmer and respond to every situation much better.”

When parenting demands more of you, you need more support.

Parenting is hard, but some parents face even greater challenges. Children I call “tough assignments” have unique needs, including neurodivergence, difficult temperaments, anxiety, and more.

Parenting these children requires more energy, focus, and direction, making it essential to have a reliable game plan. You can’t keep figuring it out on the fly—it’s exhausting, and you have other responsibilities, too.

With a personalized approach, you can feel more at ease, confident, and on track. If this resonates, my concierge coaching services may be a great fit.

Fill out the application for a FREE 20-minute consultation. If I can help, I’ll explain how. If not, I’ll point you in the right direction. Either way, it’s a win for you.

Coaching is NOT therapy.

You only get one shot at parenting your child. They only get one shot at childhood. Let’s make it count.

While therapy focuses on the past, coaching uses an understanding of the past to shift the present and change the trajectory of your future. A great coach helps a client disrupt unhealthy beliefs, behaviors, and patterns— it’s a proactive process.

Private parent coaching helps when the struggle is due to a parent’s own internal experience (anxiety, depression, overwhelm) or their child is what I lovingly call a “tough assignment.” Challenges of the child can include: ADHD/ADD, learning differences, giftedness, processing issues, Asperger’s, 2e, strong-willed, highly-sensitive, anxious, and more.

In coaching, we focus on building awareness that leads to conscious, empowered choices. We take into account your child’s needs and limits while honoring your needs and limits, too. I am here as your biggest cheerleader, advocate, and mentor as you embark on your journey.

A loving heads-up: Please be extremely picky about who you select to guide your parenting journey. Make sure the coach is certified by a gold-standard institution, ascribes to your parenting philosophy, and has years of experience plus references to support their work. In other words, choose a seasoned professional with a proven track record whose input will ensure you walk the path you want to walk now and for the long haul.

Therapy focuses on past events that might contribute to your current situation. Therapists are trained to listen and validate, which helps clients understand the past. The process is designed to go slowly, unfolding as the client comes to their own awareness.

Coaching uses an understanding of past events to shed light on the present and shift your future. Coaches listen and validate, but more importantly they are trained to challenge clients (in a safe manner) to disrupt unhelpful cycles. Coaching is a relatively fast process, as clients quickly become empowered to make conscious choices with powerful awareness.

Initially, we meet once a week for 12 total sessions. Each session lasts one full hour. For clients who wish to continue, there is an option to proceed month-to-month.

There is no licensing process for Professional Coaching but there are definite standards. My certification is through The Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, which is the gold standard training program. It is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), the only globally-recognized credentialing program for coaches. The ICF is a non-profit, professional organization. Its mission is to build, support, and preserve the integrity of the coaching profession.

Yes! My personal guarantee is that if you commit to the process, do your assignments, take full advantage of your access to me, and dedicate enough time and effort, you will ABSOLUTELY get great results. I employ many effective tools to coach you towards that. Every session, you will learn something new and you will receive homework to apply the new learning into your life.

Sessions take place via Zoom. Each session has a structure to build consistency and momentum. We will dive deeply into what’s going well and what challenges are on tap. While I meet you exactly where you are, I also take the wheel when needed because life is too short and parenting is too important for you to stay stuck in pain.
